This past weekend I decided to take every item out of my cedar chest and re-evaluate it. And I've discovered the following:
1) I clearly have an addiction to sweaters, and
2) I have a lot of items that I've forgotten I've even had.
I think that part of this is due to the fact that space is at an all time premium in our apartment - since my cedar chest stays closed to keep a certain furry female out of it it's very hard for me to search for items in my mad dash in the mornings. But after going through my clothes one thing has been made very clear - I don't need any more clothes any time soon. Sure, I might need a pair of black jeans or to replace a cardigan with holes, but other than that... I really have no excuse or reason to purchase anything new.
Take for instance this awesome sweater I discovered. Stripes. I love stripes. And black and white can be paired with just about anything. Like a blue blouse and my J Crew wanna be necklace. Pardon the bad lighting, but I'm hoping to get my camera up and going some point soon.
Button down: H&M (similar here)
Striped sweater: J Crew tippi in linen (similar here)
Skirt: Gary Graham, gift
Necklace: GroopDealz
Shoes: J Crew cece ballet flats (new colors here)
I love this whole outfit Laura, especially the necklace. I bought the rose necklace from Groopdealz too, but unfortunately they didn't have this lovely shade of red available.
ReplyDeleteI also organized and went through my entire closet this summer and came to the same conclusion: I don't need anymore clothing! I'm going to try to focus on only special pieces from now on.
Thanks Katie! I actually got a groopdealz email today that they are 7.99 for today.. hah. As if I need any more stuff...right?
DeleteIt feels good to purge. For some reason I can't let go of a small selection of items from childhood - a few t shirts and sweatshirts.. but now I feel a bit more motivated after seeing everything come out of my drawers.
I LOVE this outfit and that sweater!!! Super, super cute! I have the sweater in the other colorway!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rynetta! It's a great sweater!
Deletethis whole outfit is amazing, Laura! you look so cute - i'm happy you rediscovered this sweater! like Katie, i reorganized my closet this summer, and i'm pretty reluctant to buy clothes now. :P
ReplyDeleteThank you Phiphi! The one thing I wouldn't mind would be a pair of black jeans and a new pair of two of work pants. I'm so tired of slacks but think some tailored skinny pants would be cute. :P
Deleteaww i love this outfit laura! you literally look like you stepped right out of a j. crew mag hehehe! so cute i love the pop of color w/ your red flats!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa! :)
DeleteGreat combo. And that necklace is such a nice punch of color and interest. I keep thinking I'll pass on that necklace (or it's look alikes) but then I see someone looking great in it (like you), and I want it all over again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa! You should get it when it gets marked down to 7.99 (which I saw it do last week !)
DeleteThat necklace is such an attention grabber! The pop of color it offers is so nice.
ReplyDeleteThank you Audrey! It always makes for a nice addition to the work outfits. :)
DeleteCute pieces! Loving your necklace!

Thank you for stopping by Meghan and thanks for hosting!
DeleteOoh I love this outfit! The stripes are so cute! I pack all of my out-of-season clothes in the attic when I'm not wearing them, which means that every time I get them back out I am "discovering" a whole new set of things to wear!
ReplyDeleteAhh an attic... I can't wait until we have more storage! :)
DeleteI have that sweater! I definitely know what you mean about rediscovering things you forgot you had. I've moved twice in the last two years so that's really helped me clear through things. I've been selling tons of things on Ebay lately that I haven't worn in at least 6 months. It's a process, but it's really helping me love my closet even more!

I'm going to start ebaying too - once we are back from the long weekend and I'm around to make sure things ship!
