Living in color

After looking at some of my recent work clothing selections I decided it was time to liven things up a bit. I'm a bit tired of looking like a nun or someone who is twice my age. So I took it upon myself to purchase a few items to brighten up my wardrobe.
I got this yellow checkered shirt from the Gap during their big 50% off sale a few weekends ago. I think the final price came to about 11.00 so I didn't feel so bad buying it. Plus who doesn't love checkered print?
I picked up this awesome royal blue skirt from Target this past weekend. I'm really digging skirts lately, and tights make everything more bearable with the rain and cold we've been having lately. I think it's a great item for me to start wearing to work as I branch out of greys and blacks. Target, 18.00.
Another skirt (can you tell I have a problem?) from Banana during their 50% off promo a few weekends back. I love the pattern on this - and it also comes in blue, too! I love that I can make this dressy enough for work but I can even dress it down - perhaps for one of my bridal showers?

Another colorful find were these Abby ballet flats from Banana. With the sale they came to just under 40 so I figured why not? And let me tell you - they are so comfy! I don't have very many pairs of flats in colors other than ... well... some form of black. I love how these instantly bring a bit of color to even the most mundane of outfits. I also decided that I wanted a pair of blue colored jeans. And I swear it took me forever to find a pair. I got these from the Gap and love the color. Plus they are so, so soft! Another buy that I got from the friends and family sale. Gotta love discounts! Gap jegging jeans, in stores and online.

And the last bright item that I bought was a pair of red jeans. For some reason it took me a few weekends and multiple websites to find them. And low and behold I found them at wet seal (of all places). Of course, a belt is mandatory since they are a bit more low cut but the color is PERFECT. I love them and am definitely going to get a lot of wear out of them. And the best part? The price! Only 19.50. Online and in stores.

Whew! What have you gotten lately that's brightening up your wardrobe?

Also, while I might not be posting as much due to things being hectic, I am still reading/commenting. I'm hoping to find a better blogging/work/life balance soon  :)

Scarfapalooza

Wowza, what a week. I was training my replacement at work - and in turn being trained for my new position so I really have no idea where last week went.Thank you all so much for the comments on my green scarf post the other day. :) As a result I've gone ahead and rounded up some of my favorite scarves in my collection to share.

I got this cute little blue and gold scarf at an arts and crafts fair. It's a little small but it's cute nonetheless. It's so royal feeling to me too.
If I remember correctly this one came from Forever 21 but it's adorable. It has a crinkle to it so it stays wavy when its knotted up around my neck.
I purchased this one on my last trip to London at Topshop. I fell in love with that store - they have a really awesome accessory section and they sell a lot of vintage items. I snagged this one and I love it. It clearly needs to be steamed but since I don't know how old it is I want to be cautious with it. I adore the dots on it! It looks great with blazers.
My scarf collection wouldn't be complete without something totally badass - hence my McQueen scarf from a good friend for Christmas a few years ago. It's definitely one of the more awesome stop people in their tracks pieces. It's really great to dress up too, and I never feel bad wearing it to the office when I'm wearing something drab.
Another one and only in my collection - my Burberry scarf from FH for a birthday a few years back. I love it because while it is traditional Burberry plaid its not in their normal color scheme. I don't have a lot of orange so I love that it brightens up the piece.
Of course I'm loving my recent H&M additions, too! Jaguar scarf, perfume bottles, and the bright green and gold scarf (and each under 9.99 if you need a pop of color without spending an arm and a leg).

Most definitely can't forget my Jason Wu cat scarf. LOVE this so much!
And of course, my scarf holy grail, my beloved Hermes Cave Felem. I'm fairly convinced that if (or when) Hermes ever re-released this scarf and I had a chance I'd buy every colorway that it came out in. I'm serious. I just honestly adore this patter, and well, I'm a cat lady.

Whew! Hope you enjoyed a look into my scarf wardrobe.... do you have a particular scarf that you always gravitate toward?

Green Challenge!

It's time for another Everybody Everywear challenge - and today it's green! Since the majority of the shades of green look not so great on me I decided to dress up a drab outfit today with a green scarf. It's pouring rain and dark here in San Francisco today so the bright pop of green helps brighten up my outfit.

I also have to say that I'm pretty jealous of people who can rock green in more than just an accessory. For some reason it doesn't bode well for my skin tone. D'oh.

Since St. Patrick's day is right around the corner... what's your favorite piece of green to sport?

Purple and gold

I have to admit that I've been on a scarf kick lately. H&M has had some nice finds recently - including the one I'm wearing today. I love it already after my first time wearing it - my mom treated me to it yesterday. Thanks mom! I've also decided to start stashing some cash aside for our honeymoon in Europe to treat myself to something nice - I haven't decided what it is yet - but I've been tossing about the idea of an awesome pair of prada shoes from Italy or an Hermes silk scarf (brand new, perhaps?). I started an ING account that's separate from my savings and add a few dollars to it at a time.
Blouse: Banana Republic. Slacks: Gap. Sweater and scarf: H&M. Shoes: Nine West

Again, I apologize for the awkward bathroom shots. I didn't get much time today to take any pictures since I'm training my replacement at work (woohoo!).

I'm also realizing that I dress way conservative on Mondays and Tuesdays and taper off the rest of the week. Wonder why. Does that happen to anyone else?

So since I'm currently obsessed with scarves... is anyone else on a binge of a particular item lately? I'm also lusting after a blouse with a metal tipped collar, but we shall see.  Fingers crossed for better light tomorrow - I'd love to share some of my favorite scarves on Wednesday!

Hawaii Recap

Wowza... what a whirlwind! The four days we spent in Hawaii was fantastic - busy - but fantastic. The wedding was gorgeous and we danced until the band played their last song and celebrated a bit longer upstairs.

Here's some photos of our four days in paradise...hope you enjoy! And thanks for being patient with my lack of posts over the last week - traveling is exhausting.
