August

Hello August, when did you decide to slowly creep up on us?  Goodbye July, I hope we leave your nasty weather behind.

It's insane to think that at the end of this month I'll be 27. I feel old(ish). My mom was 27 when she had me - and I'll be 27 when I get married. I definitely can't see myself having a kid at 27... LOL.

Anyway... since its my birthday month I've decided to compile Laura's big ole birthday wishlist of some things that I'd love to have - and most of them I can't afford. But hey, window shopping doesn't hurt anyone!

I know I've mentioned them before but I still love the urban outfitters suede pump. Still lusting after these. And guess what - they're on sale! For 39! With that price tag I may have to use some of my birthday money and get a pair. I just don't know what color.... or two. ;)

A maxi skirt. And this one has stripes. In case you haven't noticed, I love stripes. This Anthro skirt is too cute - and I could pair it with tons of different solids, too! Lust!

And speaking of stripes, this is definitely on my birthday list. I can't help but love Jcrew's stripe-breaker sweater and I'd love it in either the blue or gold stripe. Come on, birthday!

And what birthday wouldn't be complete without jewelry? Still craving the zen necklace from Sarah Chloe - any color would suffice!

And of course, it wouldn't be a proper birthday lust list without one big out of control whammy wish - the Chanel caviar jumbo flap in black with silver hardware. Maybe for my 30th.. but there's something about this bag that oozes timeless classicness and I'd never ever get tired of carrying this bag.

Well that's my short birthday list - here's to hoping! And happy August!

Falling in love...

With JCrew's autumn catalogue. Holy cow, I think I want every single item from these pages. I mean really, there hasn't been a clothing catalogue that I've filpped through in a really long time and said "I need to start putting money aside for this season".

Probably the highlight for me is the schoolboy blazer in navy. I'm in love. Fallen hard - head over heels that I may end up paying full price for this item. I also do like the red version in wool - but there's something about a navy blazer that is timeless and can be worn throughout every season.

Another item that I'm crushing on is the stripe-breaker sweater. Stripes! In navy and cream! I adore this. I would definitely put a blue collared shirt on under this. Or maybe even paired under the above blazer? Oh the possibilities....

Shoes. Lets talk about shoes. I'm a flat-wearing girl - I'm not big on heels. I walk to and from work and all over the city (and kinda clumsy in heels) so I tend to stick to flats. My heart sang when I saw these in the shop the other day and I had to literally pry my hands off them and walk out. The oxford ballet flat is the last piece that would pull any awesome fall outfit together. Must.Have.Soon.

So maybe with some birthday money that may come my way in the next month I'll splurge on one of these items. I'm not quite sure what I want the most... I think its a toss up between the shoes and the blazer.

Happy hump day!

Weekend photo replay

Some photos that I snapped this weekend... the first three are from my massive walk on Saturday morning throughout Nob Hill, Russian Hill, North Beach, Telegraph Hill, and the Embarcadero.

I love sidewalk art... little reminders to be happy and smile

There was some major pollination going on at the top of the hill...

I loved this perfect pink little rose hiding on the stairs to Coit Tower

The last one is how Rosie got her nickname Chomps...

Watch out, she'll chomp your feet..

Also in big news we're about to sign our wedding contract for August 11, 2012! I can feel the stress leaving my shoulders as I type this. The next big thing I want to knock out right away is our photographer.

So that's about it for now - I can't believe July is already coming to a close and August is knocking on our doors. Odd to think that I'll be 27 in a month - jeesh that sounds... old. :O

Happy Monday!

And it was (all) yellow

Happy July 12th everyone - it's another everybody everywear day! This month's theme is yellow (which I actually don't have a ton of). I thought I had my outfit all planned out for today - a mustard yellow skirt and flats - but a client decided to come in last minute so I'm dressed like a corporate drone/flight attendant.  With that being said I couldn't resist adding this scarf to my outfit today - the gold and white really pops.

Apologies for the headless shot - I was making an odd face. And I saved you from the blandness of my black pencil skirt and tights. ;)

I hope everyone has a better Tuesday than me - so far a bird has taken its aggression out on me, I can't find my glasses (nope they're not on my head) and a laptop I need to use is password protected. Augh!

Cattiversary.

Time flies by so fast lately - to the point that it's hard to notice that July is already starting to slip away. For the first time in quite a few days the weather here is not so beautiful; instead its dismal and grey and leaves me wishing for my bed and kindle.

With time passing fiance and I realized that this weekend marks our first cattiversary. On July 10 2010 we marched ourselves (with my sister and her bf in tow) down to the San Francisco SPCA in search of a new friend. I'm not gonna lie - it was hard. We'd seen another cat there the weekend before but we were immediately in love with a green eyed girl with stripes and a white belly who was waving at us with her paws and started up her purr once we stepped in the room. It was then that Rosie (formerly known as Boscolita) chose fiance and I.

It's crazy how something - or someone can change your life so drastically. I can't imagine my life without my feline companion and it's so hard to think of what I did before she came along.
cat nap - or how she likes to sleep with us at night.

To my Rosie, thank you for bringing so much joy and happiness into our (normally boring) lives. Thank you for picking us. Love, laura.

she knew i was talking to her, too.

My new favorite necklace

At this past weekend's North Beach festival in SF I was on the hunt for a necklace. Not just any... but an initial one. I had been scouring etsy and being the impatient person that I am figured if I found one I liked I'd buy it and not have to wait for shipping.

And low and behold, at the last place I looked I found it. I had been wanting something to remind me of my fiance that was small and dainty and that would match any outfit I happen to be wearing. So it was a no-brainer when I found Ofina's handstamped charm in sterling silver. I grabbed the D (for David) and put it on right away.

L shown in rose gold, from Ofina.net
And quite frankly, I'm in love. I'm even toying with the idea of getting the L for my own initial, but I kinda like the D on its own.

i kinda want them all...
There is one other necklace I'm eying - and thanks to Lucky magazine its 35% off! It's the gorgeous zen necklace from Sarah Chloe. So I guess I'll see what my paycheck looks like on Friday. I'm just not sure what color to get - I'm torn between the silver and the gold finish (and of course, my sister says rose gold... bah!). Use code lucky3 for 35% off any of their merchandise! (thanks lucky!)

In June shopping news, I haven't bought any clothes - not even a maxi dress - in the month of June. Unheard of! So that's why I may spring for the zen necklace.

Anyway - hope everyone is having a fantastic Wednesday!

(I am in no way affiliated with either jewlery store - just love their designs!)

State of my union

I swear, today feels like it could be a Friday the 13th but its really Thursday the 16th and time flies.

Just in an odd mood today so apologies if this post is everywhere and including nothing that I usually talk about.

Some things that I've learned lately:

  • Your mom is usually right. So listen to her. My mom was the one who actually pulled what will be my wedding dress off the rack and asked me to try it on. Just because. And I did. And then we cried, and I put on a veil and really felt like a bride. And then I purchaesd it. So listen to your mom about these things. (Now I have to sit on my hands waiting for it to be made and it won't be ready until about December. Ugh, I hate waiting).
  • Lap chinchillas are fun. Except for when they don't want to get off your lap and go back in their cages so I can go to bed. Sorry furkids but I'm not nocturnal like you. I do love spending more time with them and having Ollie sit on my lap holding my fingers, and Frankie jumping on and off my hands.
  • Exercise is really good for you. I mean no, really. Even though you might be feeling lazy and tired pushing yourself to go to the gym will eventually pay off. I'm trying to get back into the habit of going at least 2, if not 3 times a week. I won't even tell you what size dress I had to order and I want to drop about 15 pounds and tone up before the wedding.
  • Photobooths are the best thing ever. Especially when your friends are drunk and you aren't. I've decided that its something I really want to have at the wedding so there shall be a photobooth with props.
  • Free is good. Free events, going for walks, just sitting around talking and enjoying company is so much more better than blowing tons of money on events that you may or may not enjoy.
Anyway. Life has been good. We are still looking at wedding venues (eep) and will see our fifth this weekend. I'm really hoping we like it because the location is fantastic and we would come in under budget. I think I'm doing better with shopping (I haven't even bought any clothing items in the month of June - whoa.) and ever since this past Monday I haven't spent a dime. I'm getting closer to my next savings goal and then I guess its on to the next one - I'm not sure what it should be though. I mean, I know a dollar amount but...

Alrighty. Congrats to you if you've read this far. I'm sorry for the lack of photos but up until a few days ago our weather here has been really really ugly and cold.  Until later...
